Facility Rental Information

The softball facilities at Sam Wise Sports Complex are leased by Greater Altoona Girls Softball Association from the City of Altoona. This lease runs annually from January 1 – December 31. GAGSA is responsible for the the use, maintenance, and management of softball game fields 1-6, softball practice fields 7 & 8, pitching lanes, batting cages, concessions, restrooms, parking lot, and storage buildings. GAGSA funds all costs associated with the upkeep and improvement of these facilities.

The use of all Sam Wise softball facilities and equipment must be approved by the GAGSA board prior to use. If you are interested in renting the GAGSA softball facilities, please contact the GAGSA scheduling manager ( gagsasoftball@gmal.com). All rentals require written approval by the GAGSA executive board. A signed rental agreement must be submitted and all rental fees must be paid prior to use of the facilities. Violation of the policies of the rental agreement, misuse of the facilities, and failure to follow scheduling policies will result in a review by the executive board at which time the rental agreement may be terminated and future access to the facilities prohibited. A fee will be required for facility rentals. A list of fees can be found on the Field Rental Agreement document. Please contact the GASGA executive board to identify volunteer/trade opportunities to offset field rental expenses. All rental and usage agreements must be renewed annually.

All rental applications must be reviewed by the GAGSA Executive Board. The following criteria will be considered for all facility reservation requests: 1. SEP district player inclusion 2. Altoona resident player inclusion. 3. GAGSA program involvement 4. Prior rental agreements 5. Facility availability. GAGSA teams will have priority to all facilities. Rentals will be approved after all GAGSA tournament and league schedules have been set. Rentals must be during “off peak” facility times. Tournament rentals will have priority over non-tournament rentals; two-day rentals will have priority on dates over one-day rentals. All agreements are subject to field availability and use by GAGSA and may be adjusted at anytime.
